ADVERBS OF MANNER

These adverbs tell us in what way someone does something.
FORM: Adjective + ly

1. We form many adverbs from an adjective + LY (quick - quickly)
2. If an adjective ends with Y, the adverbs ends with ILY: (happy - happily)
3. If an adjective ends with BLE, the adverbs ends with BLY: (comfortable - comfortably)
4. If an adjective ends with IC, the adverbs ends with ICALLY: (dramatic- dramatically)
5. Irregular forms (good – well, hard – hard, fast - fast)

Exercise:
1. Mr.Brown talked very __________ (interesting) about his work.

2. Could you speak more __________ (quiet), please?

3. James dances very __________ (good).

4. Janine is  __________ (terrible) upset about losing her job.

5. The driver of the car was __________ (serious) injured.

6. Mary fell and hurt herself quite  __________ (bad).
